November Remedy of the month

PHOSPHORIC ACIDUM

I can imagine puzzled faces and I understand why but I choose this remedy because I needed it for a patient who was not recovering from a flu like illness.

We may be familiar with the saying "He's very effervescent" or "they have lost their spark". This is the best way to remember Phosphorus remedies. White phosphorus is very reactive and used in the military as it catches fire on exposure to oxygen. Red phosphorus is used in fireworks.

Phosphoric Acidum remedy has the added element of debilitating weakness that acids have associated with them homeopathically.

Phosphorus is needed in the body for growth,energy production, maintenance and cellular repair.

It also helps to balance certain vitamin and mineral levels, all things that can 'go out of whack' during acute illness or during convalescence.

It is also a useful remedy following a bout of debilitating diarrhoea and the effects of loss of excess fluids which can leave us dehydrated, wiped out and fatigued in mind and body.

Some particulars to help prescribing are;

  • they may have dry mouth and crave juices, fruit and/or cold milk.

  • Dull sunken eyes, dark circles

  • pale sickly face

  • They may have Diarrhoea - profuse, watery

  • Great fatigue after walking

  • Feels better for a nap

  • Headache crushing worse for noise, better for lying down.

Interestingly we can have the same fatigue, apathy and sensorial depression following a episode of deep grieving which can be just as taxing on the body as a severe viral illness. Phos Ac is a marvellous recuperative remedy following grief too.

If your struggling following a grief, influenza or chronic illness recovery get in touch to find out how Homeopathy can help shift your body into balance and start to heal and find the old you once again.
